Partnership with the local school

All Nations School is a wonderful, rural primary school which caters mostly to underprivileged children of the Bwerenga Community. We have enjoyed a particularly convivial understanding with the humble and resourceful nuns who have founded and run this school admirably well for many years. But the number of pupils has recently grown beyond the original scale of the school and neither sanitary-, infrastructural- nor teaching-resources were available to match such growth.

Working hand-in-hand with All Nations School to improve sanitation, hygiene, infrastructure and teaching-resources has been a key objective for Kids of Africa throughout the past year. Our head-teacher, Dorte Budolfsen – herself an experienced long-time teacher in Africa and a mother of six children herself – has been driving this initiative with focus, rigour and prudence.

There remains much to be done – but at least health and hygiene have been improved greatly. Teaching at this joyful and vibrant primary school is also an important activity which our long-term volunteers are happy to help out with!
