Take a look at the touching video of Lilian (18). I recorded it a few days ago in Kids of Africa. Unexpectedly, she visited me to make a gesture of thanks to you, to her little family and to the big Kids of Africa family.
I’ve watched the video a few times. Each time it gives me goose bumps and a feeling of happiness. Three messages particularly touch me.
- Firstly, the Easter message about the living power of love. This is actually Lilian’s favourite thing to sing about. Here she is addressing you. And to the whole Kids of Africa family, who have supported her on difficult days. Without conditions.
- Secondly: “I feel you, even when you’re away.” Lilian knows that Kids of Africa is a global family. Her life has benefited from it. And that’s why she wants to give back and share with others. The closeness that Lilian sings about is not digital closeness. Rather, Lilian knows that love also creates closeness. Even when we are far apart. That’s why she sings with so much verve that she always wants to save us. No matter where we are and what may come.
- Thirdly, I feel the strength that comes from within. Lilian sometimes had a hard time in life. But she is strong because her strength comes from within. Singing also strengthens her. I asked her how singing changes her. Her answer came without hesitation: “It soothes my soul.”
Today, people all over the world celebrate Easter. It is the celebration of love and life. That’s why Lilian’s song is also an Easter song for me.
