Here, too, we are looking forward to the approaching Christmas celebrations. And we welcome Baby Grace! She is still a little weak. We have been there for children like her for twenty years. With family, education and prospects. Because that works. Today, I am reporting on two who have come a long way, those who still have a long way to go and those who are hoping for our help.

The course for life is set at the beginning

For more than twenty years, we have been giving children like Baby Grace a home. Those who come to us have lost almost everything: their parents, their family, their livelihood. We know from experience that the earlier we help, the more lasting the effect.

That’s exactly what it’s all about. Because the course for life is set at the beginning of life. If we help our kids stand on their own two feet with patience and love, then maybe they will do the same for their world. Some are well on their way to doing just that.

Take Christine, for example, who recently became a flight attendant. We congratulate her!

Or Benjamin Kizito, our talented young lawyer and human rights activist. He recently had the opportunity to give a presentation in the Ugandan Parliament. We congratulate him!

Knowledge creates impact

And among our younger and older children, there are many whose education we are committed to supporting. Because knowledge creates impact. For example, when our primary school pupils recently won Uganda’s chess championship. Does that count too? Oh yes! Because, from our point of view, chess, art and sport are also schools for life.

And as long as we are able, we also help families outside our small village. For example, single mother Jacklyn Ashabe, whom you can see in the attached video. On her own, she is overwhelmed by the task of providing for her children’s food, school fees and accommodation while also earning money.

Single mother Jacklyn Ashabe struggles to provide her children with schooling, accommodation and daily meals. With our support, they receive affection, a warm meal and a real chance for the future.

That is why we want to help her. To enable her children to receive an education, feel close to their family and enjoy a warm meal every day. This is important to us. Because it is not only knowledge that has an impact, but also charity that multiplies.

I wish you a wonderful Advent Sunday and send you my warmest regards.

Yours sincerely, Burkhard Varnholt

Support Kids of Africa now

We send Advent greetings from Uganda and welcome Baby Grace.
