Stronger Together

Dear friends
The Latin saying ‘A healthy mind in a healthy body’ speaks to the importance of a good balance between body and mind. The two go hand in hand. This is important to us. It is an educational principle. Whilst Uganda’s Ebola emergency continues, our children and Esbern Budolfsen made the most of their time at home by organising a sports day. See for yourself how they run, jump, play and throw! Pictures speak louder than a thousand words. Their healthy upbringing would not be possible without your support. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your valuable support.
Sports Day bei Kids of Africa
Regan, our photography-loving protégé, produced the following video and photos of our sports day. Aren’t they lovely shots? That really impresses me too. The young man has now become a remarkable young photographer.

Our Forest Farm – an update
Here is a second update in pictures from our forestry farm. The physical work, the idyllic setting and the fruits of our labour are doing us good. Esbern Budolfsen regularly spends time here with our older residents – whether it’s beekeeping, drying fruit or tending to and planting new, native trees. Here are a few snapshots.

Update on Ebola
According to media reports, more than 40 people have now died of Ebola in Uganda and the DRC. Around 1,100 people are currently being examined for suspected symptoms. The World Health Organisation has declared an international public health emergency.
The crisis is hitting Uganda hard. Tourism, schools and the poorest of the poor are particularly affected. But Africa is resilient, and the WHO has praised Uganda’s professional crisis management. We can only hope and do our best to ensure that life returns to normal soon.
